Fight The Good Fight! (Battle Oppression!)
Bismillah,
Subhanna Allahul Atheem dear sisters and brothers in Islaam and our friends! What a week this has been for me! I have a real Muslim mom's life going on here, and it is hectic and hard and quite dismaying. Each day I set out to battle the forces that seek to destroy my family and my home. What are they? It is simply that many people in my homeland of America are at war with my faith and thus my family. It is a hidden, open war.
People have learned here in the land of the free and the home of the brave that to discriminate openly with signs and banners won't be politically correct, so they must hide their hatred in twisted rhetoric and dangerous subterfuges. When will the bullets begin to fly here? I don't know, but the oppression is thick for sure.
And truly, this isn't just against us, for all people wish to live in peace and harmony with each other and our God. I want to remember that the powers that be seek to turn all of us against each other. We need to help each other truly in times of need.
Brothers and sisters, reach out to your neighbors and help them today. Are they sick? Are they fighting a battle against depression and need someone to stop by and chat or go shopping for them or with them? Please, go help someone today. Play basketball with a kid. Take your neighbor's dog for a walk (you can bathe afterward!)
For the Muslim community in your area, what can you do? Me, I care for and advocate for my children each and every day. (I tried to quit for a day, but they wouldn't let me!)
Kind, nice, intellectual words resonate with intellectuals. Actions speak to the ignorant and intellectual. File those papers; follow up on that teacher who discriminated against your child because someone else's child will be next. Yeah, the system is stacked against our success, but our trying is rewarded and our reward may only be that our children appreciate the effort to advocate for them, but it might only be that Allah, SWT, hates oppressors and blesses the ones who fight against them.
